Go Energy

The Forefront of Modern Waste Management

We’re experts in
Material Recovery.

Whether it’s sorting for construction and demolition, recycling or contaminated waste streams, we’ve got you covered! At Go Energy, we assist municipal clients to become Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliant. We are proud to adhere to the EPR set out by the Government of Alberta’s regulations.

The Extended Producer Responsibility Regulation provides an overarching regulatory framework for producers and systems for single-use products, packaging and paper products; and hazardous and special products.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - LEED

Committed to ensuring that new infrastructure is developed to be more sustainable from the construction phase and throughout the lifespan of the development; the CAGBC (Canada Green Building Council) uses LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) to confirm developers are focusing on the following six areas of human and environmental health:

Location & Transportation

Sustainable Site Development

Water
Savings

Energy
Efficiency

Materials Selection

Indoor Environmental Quality

In cooperation with our parent company (Go Services), we have assisted our Construction customers on their LEED projects. We can accurately track waste streams, disposal facilities, material weights. We work with our vendors to confirm that their process for dealing with materials is aligned with LEED requirements.

Streamline your waste management with Go Energy and achieve sustainability goals effortlessly.

Sustainable Waste Management Solutions

We are committed to spearheading advancements in Alberta’s and Western Canada’s waste management capabilities, aiming to enhance our capacity for sorting, processing, and diverting waste away from landfills.

While landfill disposal is an essential aspect of waste management, it inadvertently contributes to emissions, occupies valuable space, and has a limited lifespan.

Go Energy offers solutions to any individual, corporation or business looking for a more sustainable way to handle waste.

About Go Energy

Our mission is to pioneer sustainable waste management solutions that mitigate environmental impacts, ensuring a more efficient and eco‐friendly approach to waste handling in our region.

We develop solutions for Albertans that are responsible, innovative and scalable for a wide range of waste materials, while prioritizing landfill diversion whenever feasible.

FAQs

Material recovery is an essential process aimed at extracting valuable recyclable materials from diverse waste streams, thereby mitigating environmental impact and promoting sustainable resource management. At its core, material recovery encompasses the systematic extraction, sorting, and processing of recyclables from various waste sources. This process is driven by the primary objective of diverting these materials away from landfills, where they would otherwise contribute to environmental degradation and resource depletion.

  • In cooperation with our parent company, Go Services, we can assist our customers with the collection, sorting, and processing of their waste streams. Any inquiries should be directed to info@goenergywaste.ca

Some examples of hard to recycle materials include:

  • Films (Shrink Wrap, Bubble Wrap, Light Plastic Bags)
  • Styrofoam
  • Single Use Cups & Plastic Utensils
  • Composite Packaging

Any waste stream is susceptible to contamination as soon as any item not
belonging to it is introduced. This presents significant challenges,
particularly when there are established processes for managing the waste
stream. Contamination can lead to machine malfunctions, endanger
manual sorters, and in some instances, result in the entire waste stream
being directed to landfill instead of recycling.

Here are some of the key advantages:

  1. Reduced Environmental Impact: Landfills contribute to pollution through the release of greenhouse gases such as methane, which
is a potent contributor to climate change. By diverting waste from landfills, we can mitigate these emissions and lessen our
    environmental footprint.
  2. Conservation of Resources: Many materials thrown into landfills are not actually waste but valuable resources that can be reused, recycled, or repurposed. Diverting these materials allows us to conserve natural resources such as timber, minerals, and water, which would otherwise be used to produce new products.
  3. Energy Savings: Recycling and reusing materials often require less energy than manufacturing new products from raw materials. By diverting waste, we can reduce the energy consumption associated with extraction, processing, and transportation, leading to lower carbon emissions and energy savings.
  4. Job Creation: Recycling and waste diversion initiatives can create employment opportunities in various sectors such as recycling facilities, composting facilities, and waste management services. These jobs contribute to local economies and promote sustainable development.
  5. Improved Public Health: Landfills can pose health risks through the release of pollutants into the air, soil, and water. By reducing the volume of waste sent to landfills, we can mitigate these risks and create healthier communities.
  6. Extended Landfill Lifespan: As populations grow and urban areas expand, finding suitable locations for new landfills becomes increasingly challenging. By diverting waste, we can extend the lifespan of existing landfills, reducing the need for new ones and sparing valuable land from being used for waste disposal.
  7. Promotion of Circular Economy: Waste diversion is a key component of the circular economy, which aims to minimize waste and maximize the value of resources by keeping them in use for as long as possible. By diverting waste, we contribute to a more sustainable and efficient economic model.
  8. Educational and Behavioural Change: Waste diversion programs can help raise awareness about the importance of waste reduction, recycling, and responsible consumption. By encouraging individuals and businesses to participate in these programs, we can foster a culture of sustainability and responsible environmental stewardship.
